In 1916, the first target for the artillery is Liberty Hall. Early on Wednesday morning, the gunship Helga anchors close to the Custom House (to the right of this picture) and begins firing on Liberty Hall (the ‘new’ liberty hall is the skyscraper). The firing on Liberty Hall continues for sometime with the presence of the Butt Bridge preventing any real damage to the building. Eventually, the gunners find their target causing major damage to the building and surrounding tenements. Unknown to the military, Liberty Hall is deserted apart from a caretaker who emerges and runs for his life.
Impressed by that.
